This page features "Scooter" AKA "The Screaming Metal Death Trap".
Scooter is a 1970 SPL311, SN 29938. I was lucky enough
to find it right here in Fremont, CA just about 5 miles from my house. The
car is pretty complete but as with any 39 year old, it needs a little work.
I will try to post as much info on Scooter's progress as time
allows.

Dashboard Restoration
The original dash had been covered with a dash-cap but this
had begun to crack and buckle due to exposure to the elements. I pulled the
steering column and then the whole dash.

Here is the dash without the old skin.

Fitting the new skin.

Make sure you have a lot of clamps before you start.

Defroster vent damage.

Solution: Black conductor from Romex Wire. Stripped a
small amount of insulation from each end, drilled small holes in grill and
inserted the bare wire.

EI Dizzy
The single biggest improvement I have done for this car has
got to be the EI Dizzy I bought from Dave Brisco at East Coast Roadsters.
This small investment made a huge improvement in performance.

Original Suspension and Wheels
I have no idea what a PO was thinking when they
put pieces of 2 x 4 in.
